Exercise & Nutrition Analysis
The goal of the exercise and nutrition component of the Sportsnutrition4u.com program is quite simple. We want to change your exercise and nutritional patterns for the better. Getting this done can be much more complicated. Research and anecdotal experience have shown time and again that consistency is the key to success in reaching your fitness and health related goals. Skipping workouts or making dietary blunders just won't put you, the member, in an advantageous position.
One of the best ways of ensuring a rewarding experience with the Sportsnutrition4u.com program is to be willing to work hard at reaching your athletic or wellness goal. Discipline is required on the chosen surface of competion, in the weight room and in the kitchen. If you are an athlete training for comepetition, a commitment of 4 to 8 hours a week (depending on the stage of preperation) may be required for conditioning, speed training, weight training, plyometric and agility training. If your goals are not athletic in nature, plan spend just four hours each week physically working toward your health and wellness goals. This is a small amount of time relative to the entire week of 168 hours. We are asking each of you to spend just 2.4% of your time each week working on your health and wellness. This commitment is essential to ensure fulfillment of your goals.
When preparing to begin your program, it is vital that you realize that the best way to maximize your time and effort is through the use of proper equipment. For most atheltes, this means training out at your local facility with your strength and conditioning caoch. For other SN4U members, this means joining a gym or health club in your area. There are numerous advantages to joining a gym. There are the obvious points such as availability of proper equipment, a variety of equipment (to prevent boredom), trained personnel to answer questions about how well you are adhering to the proper technique, as well as having someone to \'d4spot\'d5 you while you exercise to help prevent injuries.
There are psychological advantages as well. Nothing is more beneficial to team cohesiveness than training together and preparing for the upcoming season. For a non-athlete or ex-athlete, the gym or health club will provide a since of belonging and obligation to show up for each workout. It will provide opportunities to meet new people and maybe even a workout partner. The gym or health club provides you with a daily litmus test for your progress as you compare yourself to others that are there for the same reasons as you.
Still others will have a workout facility in their homes. We can customize your program to accommodate the equipment you have and may suggest the purchase of additional equipment that would better ensure results. Remember that the Sportsnutrition4u.com program is a total body workout so plan on having the necessary equipment to train both the upper and lower body. Keep in mind that if you do not have a home gym and are considering creating one, you may consider joining a gym instead. For the amount of money you will eventually spend to create your workout space and maintain your equipment, you could easily buy a lifetime membership for your family at most gyms. Most high quality equipment (required for larger people over 240 lbs) is rather expensive. Once the warranty expires, service arrangement costs can be outrageous. Gym membership rates are often negotiable so don't go for the sticker price. It can be just like buying a car or a house but on a much smaller scale.
We do realize that not all of our members will have the means to join a gym or have a home workout facility. A special program can be designed for our members that fall into this category as well. This program would utilize theraband and/or surgical tubing as the instrument for resistance and walking, swimming, biking, etc as the cardiovascular modality. This program will take about the same amount of time each day as the gym workout and can be quite effective if adequate effort is put forth.
It cannot be stressed enough that the use weight equipment will better position the member to make timely progress. Therefore, it is our recommendation that each member have access to gym equipment. This is not a requirement for participation, but a suggestion (based on our many years of experience) to help maximize your return on your time investment.
